Lay Members' Day 2009: April 25th
Lay Members’ Day 2009 was another resounding success, and those who came were treated to some amazing displays, exhibitions and demonstrations. Members who had recently completed the Advanced Training Scheme showed an inspiring display of their work during the Course. Clare Whittaker, Josie Brown and Joy Daniels gave wonderful demonstrations. South Hampshire Calligraphers and the South London Lettering Association displayed their activities in the local groups’ section, and there were many stalls from which to buy original work, books, pens, inks, papers and various equipment.
The Exhibition of Lay Members’ work was one of the highlights of the day, with the winner of the Members' Choice award being Cathy Stables for her gilded Cockerel, Chanticleer.
A commentary upon the Exhibition was given by Susie Leiper FSSI, followed by The Daubney Lecture, in the form of a stunning multi-media show, by Denis Brown FSSI.
